Section 06 — method

What we
threw out.

These claims are popular, they would have helped, and we could not verify them. So none of them are in any total on this site. This page is the reason to trust the others.

The standard

How a claim gets on this site.

Documented means it appears in a court filing, a federal disclosure, an official dataset, or a congressional record you can pull up yourself. Most entries are this.

Reported means credible outlets have published it with named sourcing, but it is not yet confirmed in a filing. These are labelled and can be filtered out entirely using the dial on the money pages.

Cut means we went looking for the source and could not find one that holds. Those claims appear only on this page, and never in a number.

Three things this site deliberately does not do: it does not speculate about anyone's health or private life; it does not treat proximity in a document as proof of a scheme; and it does not merge different kinds of money into one scary total.

The noise filter

Claims we deliberately deflate.

Some widely repeated claims aren't false so much as inflated — and repeating them uncritically costs credibility the documented findings need.

Check yourself

Guess before you look.

Five questions. Most people guess low — which is the honest reason this site exists.

One ask

Check a number. Any number.

Pick the figure on this site that seems least believable, look up the source next to it, and see whether it holds. That is the entire point of building it this way — it is meant to survive being checked, by you, today.
